A fine and unusual Oak and Leather, blue baize lined, two tier case with compartments for oil bottle, forend and/or turnscrews and one lidded compartment on the upper gun level; the lower level divided into 10 compartments for cartridges plus one narrow one for a tool. Slight mothing to the baize lining.
The style of the case is late 19th Century but the leather outer appears almost new, suggesting that a much loved case has at some time been professionally re-covered to a very high standard. Fitted for 28" barrels. Heel to Breech face 17 1/4". Hammer or hammerless. Original handle. Fully functioning lock, no key.

Leather inlet with 'F.H.A.G.C.' embossed on lid.The case could hold a total of 200 12b cartridges, the compartments are 67mm wide, will easily take a 2 3/4" crimp closure cartridge but possibly not a roll turnover 2 3/4". New strap & handle.
The compartments are original size but the separators have been replaced with new oak pieces by a previous owner. Fully functioning lock with key. A little surface damage to leather on edges.
