Update
16th April, 2017
Firstly, I must apologise for being out of
touch since late January. I would like to be able to say that this is because I
have been working furiously to produce beautiful guns for the Southern S/S Show
and although that was how it started, a serious illness in my family is the
main reason.
This means that I will not be attending the
Southern in person this year, the first that I have missed for some 10 years! I
will be sorry to miss you all but my family need me more that I need to be
several 1000’s of miles away.
However,
I am still hoping to finish a few new stock guns in time to ship them over
where my good friend Bob Nay of MacNab Fine Firearms will exhibit them for me.
Even if they do not make it in time for the show, they will be available to
purchase through either Bob or myself.
The
first to be ready is a rare and lovely 1900
James MacNaughton Roundaction Ejector and I have posted full details on my
website. Researching the gun in Donald Dallas’s book on Dickson, I was amazed
to find that MacNaughton was the actual patentee of the triggerplate
roundaction design and it was Dickson who copied the idea. However it was
Dickson who patented the cocking slide which MacNaughton then copied! I suspect
the revenge was sweet!
Two
other guns that I hope to have ready to ship are:
A
really beautiful 1896 James Woodward & Sons toplever 12g SLE, cased in Oak & Leather;
A
lovely 1893 Scott-made 12g Backaction SLE retailed by Leech and Son.
I’ll
post details as soon as they are available.
Also
I will probably be shipping:
A
very nice 1889
Holland & Holland Royal 12g SLE: 15” restock, 28” TIG sleeved barrels
and a Leather & Brass case;
A
gorgeous antique James
Purdey & Sons 12g self-opening SLE complete with Oak & Leather
case.
Guns
already in the USA and to be exhibited at the Southern by MacNab Fine Firearms
include:
Henry
Atkin (From Purdeys) 12g SLE no 397
Wm
Cashmore 12g BLNE Pigeon Gun
John
Dickson & Son 12g RAE,
Cased
Henry
Atkin (From Purdeys) 12g SLE no 434, Cased
Lastly
a reminder that we now have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Heritage-Guns/1456166597974211.
Facebook is not everybody’s cup of tea but we will post photos and news there
that are not relevant to our main web site pages.
Enjoy
your guns and shooting wherever you are!
